Protection of data privacy

Privacy information

Naturally, we take all matters regarding data protection very seriously. It is of utmost importance to us that we protect the privacy of the users of our website at all times. If and to the extent to which the user shares his personal data voluntarily, it will be collected and stored in accordance with the data protection regulations of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the German Telemedia Act (TMG). All data will, of course, be treated confidentially. In the following privacy information, we seek to explain the treatment of data in further detail.

1.    Anonymous access data

1.1    In order to improve the visit to our website, access data is partly collected and stored without personal reference. Any time a file is requested from a website by the user, access data is collected and stored by default.

1.2    The data set generally consists of:
     - the page from which the file was requested,
     - the name of the file,
     - the date and the time of the request,
     - the length of stay,
     - the amount of data transferred,
     - the access status (i.e. whether the file was transferred or possibly not found etc.),
     - the IP address of the requesting computer,
     - a description of the type as well as the version of the web browser used,
     - the operating system installed and the configured resolution.

1.3    The collected data sets are evaluated exclusively for internal statistical purposes, as well as for the technical administration of our websites. This data will not be disclosed to third parties. The anonymised data is stored separately from personal data. It is never linked with the personal data of users. This ensures that no conclusions can be drawn about a specific person with it.

2.    Collection and storage of personal data

Personal data is only collected and stored in the course of the use of our website, if the user provides us with it by email or via the forms on our website. As soon as the purpose of the use ceases to apply, the data is deleted.

3.    Use of personal data

3.1    Without separate consent of the user, all personal data will be exclusively used for processing possibly requested services.

3.2    Furthermore, we collect personal data concerning the determination of the purpose of possible requests automatically and process it in a computerised file. For this purpose, the data can also be transferred to a service computer centre for further order data processing, as well as affiliated companies.

3.3    Without separate consent from the user, collected data will not be used for advertising, market or opinion research. If the user wishes to receive a newsletter that we offer, we require a valid email address, as well as information, which enables us to verify that the user is the holder of the stated email address, or that the holder agrees to receive the newsletter. Consent to the storage of the data, the email address, as well as its use for sending the newsletter can be revoked at any time.

3.4    If emails are sent via the online form on the websites, this is carried out in an integrated fashion by the wufoo.com service of the company SurveyMonkey 101 Lytton Avenue Palo Alto, CA 94301, USA. All data, which you have entered in forms, are encrypted on the servers of the provider and stored with password protection. The reason for the use of this service is simplifying processing and provision for us. In regards to the storage, the provisions under www.wufoo.com/privacy/ apply additionally – especially the paragraph PRIVACY FOR FORM RESPONDENTS.

3.5    If requested by legal authorities (e.g. for purposes of prosecution), we will provide the responsible authorities with information about the user’s data in certain cases.

4.    Credit assessment and scoring

4.1    If we provide a preliminary service, e.g. when purchasing on account, we may seek credit information based on mathematical and statistical methods from the agencies listed below in order to protect our legitimate interests. In doing so, we share the personal data required for a credit assessment with these agencies and use the received information regarding the statistical probability of a payment default for a carefully considered assessment regarding the concession of the payment method. The credit assessment may contain probability values (score values), which are calculated based on scientifically recognised mathematical and statistical methods into whose calculation the address, amongst other things, flows in. Your data protection interests will be considered in accordance with the legal provisions. You can at any time object to this check with future effect. This may mean that we will no longer be able to offer you certain payment options.

6.    Data security

6.1    Personal data is regularly transmitted over a secure SSL connection and transferred over the Internet using the SSL method. The SSL encryption protects personal data from unauthorised access. SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is a protocol for encrypting messages on the Internet, which offers particularly high security for data transmission.

6.2    Furthermore, our website and our other systems are secured against loss, destruction, access or dissemination of user data by unauthorised persons by means of technical and organisational measures. Despite regular checks, complete protection against all dangers cannot be guaranteed.

7.    Cookies

7.1    Our website uses cookies in order to make the operation of this website simpler and more user-friendly. Cookies are small text files, which the internet browser saves on the computer of the user. If the latter opens up the corresponding website again later, cookies enable the recognition of the computer. This means that previously entered data will already be available when, for example, the request from is filled out again.

7.2    Cookies, which are automatically deleted from the hard drive of the user after closing the Internet browser, (so-called session cookies) are used on a regular basis. Other cookies may remain on the user’s computer and enable it to be recognised on the next visit of the user (so-called permanent cookies). The user can stop the storage of cookies in his browser settings of his computer at any time. In order to do so, the “do not accept cookies” setting must be activated. This may however also mean that the website can no longer be used in full.

8.    Google Analytics

8.1    The website of this operator uses Google Analytics. This is a web analysis service of Google Inc. („Google“). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”, text files which are saved on the computer of the user and enable an analysis of the user’s use of the website.

8.2    The information created by the cookie through the use of the website is generally transmitted to one of Google’s servers in the USA and stored there. If IP anonymisation is activated on this website, the IP address of the user will, however, be shortened previously by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. The full IP address is only transmitted in exceptional cases to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. We would like to point out that this website uses Google Analytics with the “anonymizeIp()“ extension and that the IP addresses are therefore only processed in a shortened form, which prevents them from being linked to a specific person.

8.3    On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to assess the use of this website, create reports about the website activity and to provide further services to the website operator which are related to the use of the website and the Internet. The IP address submitted as part of Google Analytics from the browser of the computer of the user will not be merged with any other Google data. The user can prevent the storage of cookies with the corresponding setting in his browser software. However, we would like to point out that this may mean that not all functions of this website can be used in full.

8.4    Furthermore, the user can prevent the collection of the data created by the cookie regarding his use of the website (including your IP address) by Google, as well as the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plugin available under the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de .

Further information about the terms of use and data protection can be found at http://www.google.com/analytics/terms/de.html or at https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/.
